Stroke Cases

Practise the moment a stroke changes weight or direction.

These cases isolate pressure timing and movement so learners can identify exactly where control changes.

Case 01 · Pressure begins too early

Three downstrokes reach similar maximum width but begin opening at different points. Learners mark the pressure onset, compare the resulting visual weight and practise a slower transition.

Case 02 · Release happens after the turn

An underturn stays heavy into the curve. The exercise asks whether the problem comes from late release, a sudden change of direction or both.

Case 03 · Hairline disappears after repetition

A first row remains fine but later strokes become rougher. Learners consider hand tension, angle and ink loading before changing tools.

Case 04 · Repeated curve drifts from the slant

The learner compares the entry and exit directions rather than judging the overall form. A short drill isolates only the turning movement.

Review note

Each case ends with one sentence: what was tested, what changed and what should remain constant next time.
